  • Payment Practices Mailing Lists and Database
There are several mailing lists and database devoted to the topic of "Payment Practices" (i.e. the payment policies of translation agencies and vendors towards freelance translators). The following collection is not exclusive, but may serve as a good starting point.

    Translator Client Review (TCR)
TCR is a list and a web site that serves the international community of freelance translators. On the list, translators discuss payment experiences with different agencies and companies they have worked with, as well as discussing other related topics. This is a strictly MODERATED list, governed by a short list of Rules that must be complied with due to legal implications

    Payment Practices
The Payment Practices mailing list is used by translators and interpreters around the world to share information about the payment practices of agencies that use the services of freelance language professionals. Like all such information, the information provided in PP is time sensitive, i.e. a company’s financial situation or payment practices may have changed since the last posting. If you do find “old” information in PP about an agency, you are encouraged to post a new query to obtain more recent experiences from the translator community. No discussions are allowed, except under special circumstances when the topic is of interest to all subscribers (as determined by the list owner). The list is very strictly moderated. Messages that do not comply with the policies of the list will not be posted.

  • SPtranslators Mailing List
Although not specifically translation job related there will inevitably be job postings in it. SPtranslators deals with all aspects of English ==> Spanish translation and was set up as a forum for Spanish translators who are not necessarily on Compuserve.
